About FreightWatch

Built to protect the businesses that move America's freight.

FreightWatch is a carrier intelligence platform developed by Synthetic Software Corp. We built it because freight brokers and 3PLs deserved a modern, affordable alternative to the legacy compliance tools that have dominated the market for decades.

The problem we set out to solve

A landmark Supreme Court ruling expanded freight broker liability for accidents involving carriers they hired. Overnight, due diligence went from best practice to legal obligation. The tools brokers had access to were either expensive enterprise platforms priced for Fortune 500 logistics arms, or raw FMCSA web lookups that required interpreting government data with no context or guidance.

There was nothing in the middle — nothing that gave a small or mid-size brokerage the same quality of insight as a large compliance team, at a price that made sense for their business. FreightWatch was built to close that gap.

The core of the product is the FreightWatch Safety Grade — an A–F composite score that combines authority status, out-of-service rates, crash history, BASIC scores, and insurance into a single, actionable verdict. Instead of asking a broker to interpret six government data sources under time pressure, FreightWatch does the analysis and surfaces a clear answer: safe to dispatch, or not.

The scale of the problem

The U.S. motor carrier industry is one of the most fragmented markets in the country. Over 4.4 million motor carrier records are registered with the USDOT — a number that includes both active and historical entities, intrastate and interstate, across every category of freight.

Of those, more than 2.2 million currently hold active status — the ones freight brokers are most likely to work with and most legally exposed to. The safety records, authority status, and insurance filings for all of them are public — but buried in government databases that weren't designed for fast, actionable lookup.

Perhaps most importantly: 90% to 95% of these carriers operate fewer than 6 to 10 trucks. The industry isn't dominated by J.B. Hunt and Werner — it's dominated by small owner-operators with thin compliance footprints and high turnover. That's exactly where the risk lives, and exactly where brokers need reliable, fast intelligence most.

Built by Synthetic Software Corp

Synthetic Software is a private software company with a singular focus: leveraging AI-powered development workflows to build high-value software products faster and more efficiently than traditional development approaches allow.

We use tools like Claude Code and modern AI-assisted engineering pipelines not to replace good engineering judgment, but to amplify it. The result is production-grade software that reaches the market in a fraction of the time — and at a price point that reflects those efficiencies rather than passing inflated development costs to customers.

FreightWatch is our latest product, and it represents a broader thesis: that AI workflows can unlock entire categories of software that previously required large engineering teams and venture-scale funding to build. We're proving that thesis one product at a time — Synthetic Software.

What we stand for

AI-First Development

We build with AI at the center — not as a gimmick, but as a genuine multiplier. The Safety Grade is the product of that: six data sources synthesized into one verdict, the kind of analysis that used to require a dedicated compliance analyst.

Data Integrity

FreightWatch pulls directly from FMCSA public datasets — no middlemen, no markup. We sync daily so the data you see reflects the real state of the carrier, not a snapshot from last quarter.

Practical Value

We build tools that solve real problems for real businesses. Freight brokers face genuine legal liability when something goes wrong on the road. We take that seriously and build accordingly.
